Making friends with a good bottle shop is the best way to gain direct access to the great bargains - the one-offs and specials as well as the wines from small producers that haven't yet become cult buys (and are therefore unobtainable). This list has been put together by combining our own experience of various bottle shops around the country, and asking a network of contacts, including wien producers, wholesales and distributors, where the best places to buy wine are located.

NATIONAL

Because of their size (between them they control about 40% of the market, and this percentage is growing), the Coles and Woolworths stores often have the best prices, but they can lack range and depth of wines on offer.
